A Guest’s Experience: Powder Room Renovations

Your guests will spend the most time in three main areas of your home – your entranceway, your kitchen, AND your powder room.

You want your powder room to be an inviting space for your guests, not an embarrassing feature in your home. It’s almost guaranteed they are going to need to use it at some point, so why not make it somewhere they want to be? It should be clean, clutter-free, and easily accessible AND it doesn’t hurt to make it super stylish on top of all of that. As a bonus, an updated ½ bath can add value to your home!

So, what are the things to keep in mind when renovating your powder room?

1.     DECLUTTER

There isn’t too much to a ½ bath. It’s usually a small space – only requiring a toilet and a sink so you don’t need to go overboard with what you are putting in the space. Keep the main elements simple. Don’t add too many shelves, bins, boxes, or otherwise, you shouldn’t need too much storage. This space should be for ‘Guests’ and only needs the necessities. Add a beautiful mirror, an excellent sink, and a killer vanity - and you are killing it.

2.     MAKE A STATEMENT

Again, since this space is small, this is the perfect room to allow yourself to have some design FREEDOM. Make a statement, go bold. Add a cool mirror, and a colored sink (these are cool), or add a dynamic wallpaper!

3.     MAKE AN EXPERIENCE

This might sound cheesy, but why not?

Give your guests the feeling they get when they go out to a nice restaurant, or a nice hotel – this will give an amazing impression. You can add cool elements like built in speakers, so they don’t miss their favourite song. Or add heated floors, so they stay toasty warm. Or you can add mood lighting and dimmer switches, so they don’t have to have the glare of fluorescent lights. All these little touches in your renovation will give your guests an experience while using your epic powder room. Although…. your guests may never want to leave.
